CBC Radio column: outsider books

I’m fortunate this summer to spend every week talking on-air about books, and if you’re outside of Canada, or you miss me in your regions, I will post the audio here.

This is me chatting CBC Here and Now’s host Gill Deacon about my favourite #outsider books:

  1. Being an outsider. At times a blessing, at times a curse. Even when I’m with a group of people I’m completely comfortable with, I know that maybe only one or two of them, at most, has a brain that works as oddly as mine. When I was younger, that often made it at times difficult to deal with me. A few times I even got bullied over it. Nowadays though, my quirky brain, while it does get me into awkward situations sometimes, has given me wonderful experiences, and I hope in the future it helps me write great outsider characters. (Whether or not I already have is up to my readers.)
Great job, Angela. Can’t wait for next week’s episode.
