Well, hello there! My name is Angela, and I am so glad you stopped by my site!
I write books for Adults, Middle Grade readers (8-12) and Young Adults (13-19). This is where I blog about my characters, detective mysteries, the writing process, research and much more.
I’m an experienced moderator and public speaker, so please reach out for your events and/or festivals. And I’ve added some videos of recent events below!
Portia Adams, is a fictional detective who lives in 1930s London. I created her in the summer of 2012. The first three books in the series are available through Amazon or directly through me on this site and the fourth book is an ADULT book, and is available through Cormorant (my new publisher) and all the usual indie and traditional bookstores.
Pickles vs the Zombies is a new book series featuring a fellowship of marvellous mammals fighting their way through the human zombie apocalypse. The second book in the series will be out in the spring of 2021 (pandemic allowing). You can pre-order Trip of the Dead now.

This is awesome! I love how you document everything that you’re doing on your projects. I’ll be back by to check this out more often.
Lol; glad you like it and thanks! I appreciate the attention!
Thanks for the follow on my blog. I see you’re also a writer, with an innovative approach at that. Since I dabble in historical fiction, I love how you’re providing informative entertainment about the 1930s period. Love the blog and its layout, by the way!
Thanks! I appreciate the support and kind words!
I’m here
Well Hello!
I working on my next ‘albulm” and working on new photo’s & graphic’s building company & so forth…
networking on blogs & working part-time to have a little lunch money… what about U?
pushing forward with graphics & music & networking
Yes, yes you are.
Hey, i like your blog. Thanks for following mine. We seem to work at opposite ends of the story timeline: you setting yours in the past, and I setting mine in the future. But i look forward to reading more of your blogs.
Opposite ends but with like interests. Right now I am looking at my 65+ Star Wars novels including the latest bunch ‘ Fate of the Jedi’ – did you read that series?
i have started reading them, but not got all of them yet. Bit difficult to find them around here. Nearest Waterstones is about an hour and half drive away so…
Best part about writing fiction is doing the research. I love researching on people, places and things. I think I’m really going to enjoy your blog. 🙂
I agree, CoreyMP, and thank you for dropping by!
oh so nice to meet you!

Portia Adams is a cool name for a 30s detective, it has a classical but also contemporary feel. Good luck!
Thanks!
I decided to stop by and have a look around. Love…love…love your site! I am going to become a frequent visitor. I’m so glad to have ‘bumped’ into you. Wishing you the most excellent luck in your literary endeavours! 🙂
Wow, thanks so much!
It seems like you have put a tiny camera into the brain that Kristen and I co-inhabit. I love your post about how you respond when asked if you’re a writer. I love that you are now harassing agents. (We keep actual index cards full of info on agents, dated with when we expect to hear back from them by. Weird, right?) Stay in touch, as I feel we have much to learn from each other/ freak about together.

I can’t believe the telepathy is finally working! Awesome!

Thanks!
Keep smiling. 😉
I really enjoy the pictures to set the scene for your blog, especially the picture of the London street. It has a Sherlock Holmes type feel to it. I just started watching the BBC America TV show Ripper, and apparently, London only looked genteel.
Thanks Judith! I haven’t watched Ripper, but I’ve been told by friends I would like it, I may have to grab an episode from iTunes and check it out now…
It’s grim, but good.
Hey, thanks for liking my post dearest late night thoughts. I thought I’d stop by your blog as a result and am delighted with what I’ve found! Really interesting take on a blog and looking forward to reading about how your build your series. Best of luck!

Love your site. Definitely inspiring, especially since I just started my own. Thanks for the comment by the way 🙂 I will try to check it out regularly.
Ugh I can’t figure out how to change which Avatar comes up when I comment on people’s blogs. Must figure that out! But for now: http://ahiddenlifejanuary2014.wordpress.com/
Figured the Avatar out 🙂

Glad you liked “silent treatment.” Thanks for your support and best to you.
I’m very pleased to meet you.
Very creative blog. You said in your interview that you wish one day your dream job would be a full-time novelist; apparently, you’ve already made it. (“Writers do not write because they want to, they write because they have to.”- Stephen King ) I inserted that quote in regards to your dream. As long as you do what it is you love to do, then the rest will follow.
Thank you so much! And I guess you’re right… I’m doing it ma, I’m really doing it!
Yea.
Thanks so much for visiting my site and choosing to follow. Much luck with your stories.
I’m a big fan!!

Does your website have a contact page? I’m having trouble locating it but, I’d like to shoot you an email.
I’ve got some creative ideas for your blog you might be interested in hearing.
Either way, great blog and I look forward to seeing it grow over time.

Hi Angela, thank you so much for following my blog when it has only one post.. That’s very encouraging. 🙂 While browsing your blog I thought it’s funny cause I used to write short stories myself. Maybe I’ll pick up writing stories again some time soon. It’s really nice you’re sharing so much of your experience here. I wish you best of luck with your writing!
Thanks Lora! Your first post looked interesting and I look forward to more!
Congrats on the publish and thanks for the follow 🙂 Interesting setting for your novel!
Thanks !
I don’t even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post was good.
I do not know who you are but certainly you’re going to a famous blogger if you aren’t already 😉 Cheers!
Sometimes that’s how it goes, Mesto, thanks for stopping by!
And has Portio witnessed the coming of the war years in your series?
Not yet, though I am alternately excited and insecure about it. We’re still in 1921 in the books, but one of the casebooks in book 3 occurs in Italy when Mussolini was really getting ramped up. It’s a little worrying making sure that Portia has the right frame for her social status/intelligence/age for the actual reality on the ground.
I know what you mean. Historical fiction is challenging, creating a fictitious persona that parallels a actual events. So many details! But you know, I AM a historian, and the 20th century is my area is specialty 🙂
Amazing site Angela – also love the snippets – can’t wait to buy your book at Hear Here on Thursday! xo
Aw! Thanks Alisha!
great blog….good luck with your book…
Wonderful book, Angela! I just finished reading your first novel, and enjoyed it thoroughly. I found out about you through a friend that purchased your books at a book-signing at Chapter’s-Kitchener last month ~ I am one of the “tea ladies”!! Looking forward to reading the next ones… good luck with this series!
Lovely to meet you Shelley! And please thank your friend for introducing my girl Portia to you! I am doing another signing at the Kitchener location in April I think, so I will post it on this site when I know for sure in case you want to meet in person…
